Happy Moments, is a collection of small stories that apparently seem to be disconnected.
But Connor, Corbet, Eric, Gabriela, Ingrid, Jake, Lawrence, Lea and Sheyenne, share a common value: their family ties and friendship, that are so important in the growth of a person.
These characters, reflecting the experience and the background of the Author, do not care about physical appearance, but live and coexist with the security that even a flaw can hide a special ability, a personal genius, in a sense the acceptance of ourselves.
Machelle Shelton, a retired Teacher, and Principal after 28 years working mainly with foundation phase age group children. Holds a Hons BED degree with Specialization in the Foundation Phase. Loves to teach children how to develop their thinking skills and motivate them to enjoy learning, especially through reading. Machelle has read an abundance of stories to her children, nephews and nieces, and the hundreds of children in the schools where she taught. She becomes deeply involved in the stories and loves to accentuate the different themes and characters in the stories.
Machelle has travelled on many occasions to London, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Australia, and New Zealand with her Husband of 40 years who is a Professor at Wits University in South Africa, and her three sons, two of which hold master’s degrees in their fields, and one still studying. She spends as much time visiting with her three grandchildren as she can, in Australia and New Zealand.
Machelle enjoys studying the behavior patterns of people and enjoys finding the absurdity in the things they do. She finds that reading books brings out the best in children and helps develop and enhance their social skills.
