The Stone of Power is an extraordinary thing. The person who possesses it, immortal or human, becomes all-powerful.
This fairy tale seems to have been written in another time, with its description of a world characterised by an array of figures, some magical, some fairy-like, and some human or semi-human. The Stone of Power has the miraculous attribute to connect them all. Immortals and mortals unite in an eternal battle of good against evil. Human and magician will cross swords, shake hands, fall in love, doubt and be afraid.
… All this begins on the day when Lili the flutterby, ignoring a troublesome breeze, decides to flutter hither and thither, moving away from her tree and the cocoon hanging from it, which she inhabits…
Weronika Madryas – PhD, teaching subjects related to art therapy, bibliotherapy and narrative medicine at the Institute of Psychology of Wrocław University. She also conducts literary translation workshops for students. She is an External Stakeholder of the Council of the Faculty of Letters at the University of Wrocław and member of EUNMES, the European Narrative Medicine Society in Milan.
She is a member of the SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators), IBBY and the Olga Tokarczuk Academic Research Centre, in the School of Languages of Wrocław University.
She is the author of academic monographs, novels, collections of fairytales; has run writing workshops.
In 2017, her fairytale called The Tree and the Bird was published and presented in Italy at Bookcity Milano. She published two Italian and Polish collections of fairytales called Fairytales of the Silvery Moon (Le fiabe della luna argentata) and Tales of Golden Stars (Le fiabe delle stelle dorate). In January 2022 the English version of her book called Anne from the Fairytale Land of Green Gables was published by Kindred Spirits of PEI on Prince Edward Island. In the autumn of 2024 Wydawnictwo ARTI published a Christmas story entitled The Tale of the Tooth Fairy and Mr. Monetka.
